And then there are those of us who expend 1000s of words daily on legal advices and business reports and suchlike, only to find the time/work up the enthusiasm to create fun things in our downtime! Songwriting was a wonderful way for me to find my way back into the creative space, as when I became tired of words (yes, it happened!), music soothed a way back in. And from songwriting flowed a tentative reentry into poetry, and as many of those songs and poems were mini stories, that then flowed back to the joy of experimenting again with flash fiction and short stories. And now the danger is of the creative dreams flowing into designated paid work time…

And Louise, I agree with you on prompts – I’ve found them to be a fantastic (in the true sense of fantasy) way to break out of my usual thoughts and story ideas, and experiment with something new!
