But yes, Kay is right – you’re better off concentrating on the writing, and being the best you can, than chasing clap numbers – which are not necessarily an indicator of anything. Because otherwise, once you reach your first 1K, you find you just want more and more, even if you know it’s not helpful or healthy to think this way. Believe me, I’ve been there, to some extent – or at least, felt twinges of it. And even with paid posts, clap counts don’t necessarily translate into dollars. So just keep writing and finding the truth of your voice, and try not to think too much about stats – and who knows where it will lead!
