I heard from someone that Medium had been banned in Malaysia, after someone posted criticism for the former PM – but maybe that’s changed since he’s been deposed. I still have concerns for the political situation in Malaysia – it’s something few of my relatives speak openly about, although when I was last there a couple of years ago, some of my younger cousins spoke disparagingly of “the great man” (the corrupt former PM). My mum is currently building a Minangkabua inspired conference centre in the kampung of Rompin, Negeri Sembilan (it was originally intended to be a Sufi centre – but the religious/political situation in the mainland is a bit dicey, so she’s had to lay low on that intention) – so I hope politics there remains stable enough to not give her any trouble. Here’s a view of the development, on the off-chance you’re ever sight-seeing in Rompin 😁 (highly unlikely, I know):

And I’ve written a bit of my cross-cultural experiences and internal struggles, but in poetry – if you’re interested at all, maybe check out “Motherline” on my Medium page.
