I write legal advice for a living. (Yup β my day job is as a burnt-out former tort litigation lawyer, one time criminal defence advocate, currently working part-time writing criminal costs advice). Oddly enough, the exactitude of the law has done wonders for my poetry. And the overflow of human stories and psychological conundrums has fed my fiction. Thereβs something to be said for a prosaic and well paying day job (with leave entitlements and superannuation) β as long as you can swing the balance with creative work. Maybe I should consider a sideways move into policy?
