If you are a songwriter, people generally assume the lyrics are all about you, the writer. The “writer’s block” may then come from a fear of self-revelation (or construed self-revelation). Same with poetry.

Granted, if there’s someone else in the song, they may then think it’s about them (particularly if the person is your ex!). “You’re So Vain”, anyone?
