I’m from Australia, where swearing is pretty much de rigueur. I still remember my history teacher in Year 8 at high school say there was nothing wrong with good old Anglo Saxon words used in the proper context. The class clown then asked “What if I said I needed a shit?” To which she replied “I would tell you to go quickly!” This little exchange changed my view of swear words from then on. Studying English literature at uni also inured me to the power of taboo words, particularly in proper context.

So no, I don’t think there is any need to censor on this basis. Surely all those failed obscenity trials in days of yore (D H Lawrence; Allen Ginsberg) have loosened things up in this regard!
