Joe Váradi – I’m with you on how long it takes to write a piece – as long as it needs, and after while you get a sense on whether it’s properly cooked (maybe not to perfection, but at least as close as you can get at the time). I’m mainly writing/publishing poetry at the moment, with the occasional short story, and find that although I’ve had the occasional poem pour out in 30mins or less, almost done to perfection (or at least as I could, that day) – some have required much more tinkering, and occasionally long periods of reflection, to complete. And fiction writing is even slower for me! So when I come across these blog writing tips, I take them for exactly what they are – blog writing tips – and largely discount their relevance to the writing of other forms of literature, particularly if you’re trying to write a piece which readers may wish to return to, over again. So I’m more with you and Anna Breslin, on how I write and interact, in and on this Medium.
