Oh, it so is! And โ€“ me too! And itโ€™s not the first time Iโ€™ve said this. When my husband was struggling to teach himself a few chords and notes on the guitar, I realised what a gift (as in present) it was to be able to read notated music fluently, to be able to sight sing, and to pick out tunes by ear. And when it comes to improvising and composing, it most definitely is another language, and a mode for storytelling. Itโ€™s probably no surprise that my favourite subjects back in my high school days were English and music โ€“ and when the words are not coming, itโ€™s music I return to. In fact, I found my way back to poetry and storytelling through first singing, then jazz improvisation, then music composition and songwriting. And now youโ€™re making me itchy to make more time for creating music, again. โค๏ธ
