We have male secretaries in my office – although they are invariably gay, and also quite young. I may be in a different demographic though (government law office) – as these days, most of the lawyers and paralegals (apprentice lawyers), and more than half of the senior lawyers/managers, are women. And more than 50% of the law graduates coming out of universities these days are women. It’s true that we’re still working on parity in the corporate sector, and at the bar, but things are rapidly changing. And it’s also true that, when children are involved, it’s generally women who bear the bulk of the home/work juggle. But – things are changing. I have hope for the future.
